I heard about blogging for the first time when I was in Royal Thimphu College. My ICT Lecturer told about it one fine morning. I have also mentioned this in my ‘About Me‘ link.
He started his lesson.
When he was done explaining about blogging and its workings, I could only assume blogging as some kind of maintaining a diary online.
But it was just that my knowledge of it was limited. I could realise it later as I went on exploring more and more about it.
Blogging can be defined from so many angles.
During the course of exploration, one thing about blogging caught my attention. ‘Bloggers can also earn money from blogging.’
I started wondering.
There are many bloggers in the world who are earning better than any well-paid senior corporate executives. Their earnings with proofs were given.
Blogging tips geared towards making money online in this way are also given. I couldn’t resist than to create a blog in my own name.
Sherab Tenzin’s Blog was thus born.
I kept on writing articles after articles. Literally, I was a fanatic blogger. I can still remember bunking few classes and skipping few meals just to write in that blog.
But basically, I was writing more of myself than others or things that matter much in the society. I didn’t write for my readers.
It was almost two years plus. But then making money still remained like ‘finding a shark on mountain top’.
However, I didn’t give up.
Blogging has become more of a passion-driven then. Blogging to make money started becoming less pronounced. Because I couldn’t earn a penny.
Sherab Tenzin’s Blog with URL www.sherutenzin.blogspot.com became Sherab Tenzin’s Blog with URL www.sherutenzin.com
I continued my blogging somewhat with a renewed enthusiasm.
Change in a blogging Niche
In few months down the line, the frequency at which new articles surfaced in my blog started dwindling. Sometimes there will be just one article in one or two months.
This didn’t make me feel sorry.
Instead, I felt myself a selfish blogger who has come all along just blogging about himself. I felt little awkward.
Sherab Tenzin’s Blog was forced to leave the cyberspace. I deleted it.
It seems I need to change my blogging niche. On listing my blogging strengths and weaknesses in line with my passion, I thought blogging about blogging would be better.
So my new blog ‘To Learn Blogging’ was thus born.
I started writing articles after articles all over again.
But unlike in my previous blog, things in it were ‘HOW’ parts of blogging in free blogging platform Blogspot.
That is it!
Blogging about blogging indeed is a good niche. No sooner my blog had 30+ number of articles than I was able to get as high as 1500 views in a day.
Contents monetization Idea
This really provided a boost. ‘If it continues receiving that many views’, I wondered, ‘the possibility of making real money online won’t be far.’
So I applied for Google Adsense. My application was disapproved.
The reasons they have mentioned are many.
I felt discouraged. Yet I didn’t quit. I explored other alternatives and came across few alternative sources of content monetization programs.
Immediately, I applied for them. My application got approved in many. I then started implementing them in my blog. I could earn few cents a day. I could earn USD 0.80/day. Sometimes.
I kept writing. My writings could fetch me USD 50 plus. It may not be very significant, but for me, it was capable enough in placing me on the top of the world.
Blogging indeed can earn money.
I started blogging with a determination. My blog could get good hits and possibility of making more money has just increased.
I kept on blogging.
Introduction to self-hosted blogging
I kept on blogging until I came across Harsh Agrawal, a professional blogger from India who blogs at ShoutMeLoud. Reading his blog and interacting with him was one of the best moments of my life.
He even accepted a guest post from my side. I was indeed honoured!
His blog earns him as high as USD 20,000/month. And he doesn’t work but his blog is his company that pays him well.
All his articles suggest me opening a self-hosted blog to get maximum visitors and improve the overall earning capability.
I started pondering.
I became active like a cock.
And kept on exploring.
Opening a self-hosted blog will be by far better if one has to pursue blogging seriously. I concluded.
I then went on asking few more self-hosted bloggers on what should I do for opening one self-hosted blog for myself.
They were generous.
Finally I felt happy!
Bhutanics story from June-July
No sooner Bhutanics was launched than I was asked by Mr. Payman Taei, Founder of Visme to write a review of Visme which is then to publish in my blog.
I wrote the review article. It was published in my blog. In reward, they offered me with USD 7.00/month worth of premium account for free.

Sometimes later, Jennifer Capp, Affiliate Marketing Associate of Grammarly wrote a mail asking me to review about Grammarly as a Writing-enhancement platform.
I accepted that offer too. The review article was published in Bhutanics. They paid me USD 25.00 for that article.
In Affiliate Marketing front, I have also earned USD 23.00 in total till date from various Affiliate Marketing Programs like Infolinks, BlueHost, Theme Junkie, iPage, Bidvertiser, eHost, Viglink, Payoneer and Chitika.
The way forward + Plans
I am also earning few cents a day from Facebook Audience Network. Arithmetically speaking, I have earned USD 150+ in these two months of my professional blogging!
It may not be significant for many but not for me. But the point is, making money online out of blogging isn’t a lie. It’s real.
When cent by cent comes in me, I get encouraged. This shouldn’t end. I will keep on exploring, blogging taking Bhutanics to a new height every day. I am just counting for many such moments to come.
I am thinking of recruiting someone within Bhutan as a part-time content writer for this blog-Bhutanics. I could write only 11 articles till date and hits it gets are at the max 300/day.
I want to increase them too. I also want to start building an email list for it. Therefore, it seems I have so many things in line to be done.
Until then remain happy. If you also want to create a self-hosted blog for yourself, you can leave your ‘how-to-go-ahead queries’ in the comment section. I will get connected with you to help!
